The benefit statement is really our effort to communicate with you, to talk to you, to say to you,
“Do you have this understanding of how your benefits work? Do you have this understanding of your financial future?”
The best thing that I can do for you is to share with you what I know, and the best thing you can do for me, in that context, is to share with me what you know. What you know is your pay statement. What you know is you. So, if we can put those things together, we can get you to a point where you have this moment of, ‘Oh! I see! I can see it, I see where I am, I see where I'm headed.’
Now I can say to myself, ‘yeah, I'm I'm doing the right things, Im on the right track.’ Or you could say to yourself, ‘no, I'm really not on the right track, this is not where I want to go.’ Either way, I think it gives you a chance to know what to do right now. What do you do right now? What's the next best thing you can do right now? Actually, what's the best thing you could do right now, and that's just making decisions.
"If we're afraid of making the wrong one, then we're not gonna make the right one either."
Sometimes we put off decisions because we're afraid that it's going to be the wrong one. If we're afraid of making the wrong one, then we're not gonna make the right one either. What we hope the statement does for you is give you the confidence that you can make the right decision.
